“America’s strength is not our diversity; our strength is our ability to unite people of different backgrounds around common principles. A common language is necessary to reach that goal.”
What divides (diversity) us will never unite us. Only our limited commonalities of God, country and family, encapsulated in our common language, can unite us, thereby assuring our best chance for life, liberty and our pursuit of individual happiness. kqd

Great quote! I do not know how we got it so messed up, but America is really a remarkable country for exactly that reason, we have been able to “unite people of different backgrounds around common principles.” That is not the same thing as “equality,” social justice, or redistributing the wealth. In a sad twist, all this “diversity” stuff tends to erase the best qualities that people have and it cripples us, because now we are forced to unite not over common principles but common perceptions of our own victimization.
