Sensible Etiquette of the Best Society (1878) – Written by Mrs. H. O Ward and Published by Porter and Coates in Philadelphia. The 18th Edition was Published in 1918.
“Well may both the preachers, and mothers, falter, and feel at times that they hardly know how to wait for the growth of the seed that they have planted.
Fear not, watch the field, pull up the tares by the root, and if the seed has been good, and the soil is good, there will yet be an abundant harvest for those who remain to gather it.”
Thank you. In spirit, totally applicable today. Although the trappings change, some qualities are eternal!

Wonderful treasure. I’m sure it’s an interesting read, if only to see how much our civilization has declined, as feminism has risen. I believe that Ward was her pen name. Google Clara Jessup Moore for more information about her.

I have a copy of the 1st edition, 1878. Cover is falling off, but pages intact. Amazing book. I’d like to know more about Mrs. H. O. Ward.
