Although Ms. Kingsolver is a divorced, radical, second-wave feminist, she is right, on this one issue. I myself once witnessed an average sized mother, literally drag her big 15-year-old son, backwards, out from under an approaching car, in order to save him from being run over. It was a breathtaking experience and took nearly super human strength on the part of the mother. kqd
