Jay Branscomb posted the following photo of Steven Spielberg on Facebook. Under it he wrote, “Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man.”
It spawned 6000 comments. A few of which follow:
“That’s Steven Spielberg, director of Jurassic Park!” one person wrote.
“I don’t care who he is, he should not have shot that animal,” another responded.
Another commented, “Steven Spielberg, I’m disappointed in you. I’m not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER.”
And another,“Disgraceful. No wonder dinosaurs became extinct. Sickos like this kill every last one of them as soon as they are discovered. He should be in prison.”
But, the following response makes all of the others look like members of Mensa.
When it became obvious just how many truly ignorant people were responding, Buzzfeed did a fact check and commented, “The triceratops became extinct 66 million years ago. The director of “Jurassic Park” has never shot one for sport.” DUH.
The response was less ferocious but still telling.
If I had to guess, I would conclude, without even looking at all 6000 plus comments, that 98% of the comments were posted by women. What’s your guess?
I read that he ‘named’ the shark Bruce, in homage to his lawyer – by the same name.
