Mothers and fathers are critically important, but as a Christian, I believe God can provide you with love and acceptance, too.
“I had a hard childhood” or “awful parents” has become such an excuse for bad behavior these days and I just don’t buy it anymore. For one it takes responsibility off the perp, but also it fails to explain the hundreds of thousands of us who had broken parents but still turned out okay.

I absolutely agree. I was just reinforcing the fact that parents, particularly mothers, should be aware that children need their full time love but that the under appreciated concept of “acceptance” is just as important to the proper development of a child. “Love” can become rote behavior, “acceptance” requires more thought, and behavior notification, on the part of the parents, including developing and inordinate amount of patience with little children’s natural antics. They must be accepted for who the are – little needy children.
