This month, Pope Francis announced the names of nineteen men he has elevated to the position of Cardinal. These men will begin their official duties in February. One of these new Cardinals is Fernando Sebastian Aguilar, Archbishop Emeritus of Pamplona, Spain.

As a result of his elevation to Cardinal, Archbishop Aguilar was interviewed by the Diario Sur Newspaper from Malaga, Spain. And, of course, since newly elected Pope Francis has had a lot to say about homosexuality, which has unfortunately fed into the homosexual communities view of themselves, Archbishop Aguilar was asked about this very same subject. The Archbishop’s answers were clear, succinct and irrefutable.

When asked for his view on homosexuality, Archbishop Aguilar responded, “A lot of people complain and don’t tolerate it but with all respect I say that homosexuality is a defective way of manifesting sexuality, because that has a structure and a purpose, which is procreation.” Who can argue with that? It was never intended to be abused or used for entertainment or self-gratification.

He went on to explain, “We have a lot of defects in our bodies. I have high blood pressure. Am I going to get angry because they tell me that? It is a defect I have that I have to correct as far as I can.” Who can argue with that? We are all responsible for the good health of our God-given bodies.

Archbishop Aguilar continued, “Pointing out a defect to a homosexual is not an offence, it is a help because many cases of homosexuality can be recovered and normalised with adequate treatment. It is not an offence, it is esteem. When someone has a defect, the good friend is the one who tells him.” Who can argue with that? This approach is truly an extension of Love Thy Neighbor. Gays, on the other hand, would prefer to “stick-it” to Christians with the twisted, “I thought you were supposed to Love Thy Neighbor? slam. Once again, the gays are totally off base as Love Thy Neighbor directs Christians to follow the tenets of Christianity and help those who are on a destructive path to overcome their problems, not enable them to continue along the same path. If Christians followed the gays interpretation of Love Thy Neighbor, they would no longer be considered Christians, just jerks!!

Archbishop Aguilar was then asked about Pope Francis’ controversial comment about homosexuality when the Pope said, “If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with good will, who am I to judge?” The future Cardinal Aguilar explained, “It is one thing to show welcome and affection to a homosexual person and another to morally justify the exercise of homosexuality.” Who can argue with that? I have always felt that the liberal news media deliberately misinterpreted Pope Francis’ comment. Now, it appears my suspicions were justified. Alleluia!
