Admirable Women – Karen Sizemore is Fired For Catching a Shoplifter at Lowe’s

Karen Sizemore is a grandmother and a hero.

Karen Sizemore went to work at Lowe’s, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky this week, just like she’s done for the last 18 years. One minute she was just having a run-of-the-mill day and the next minute, her co-workers were calling her Rambo and Superwoman.

Karen had watched Kyle Heim pick up a Dewalt Tool Kit, valued at $600, and then watched him walk out of the store without paying for it. This made her furious! As she said, “You just get to the point where you are so tired of people stealing from you.”

So, she decided to confront the creep, as he walked to his car in the parking lot. He ignored her, so she tried to reach into the backseat of his car and retrieve the Tool Kit, but he drove away. She did manage to get the crook’s license plate number and the make of his car. Karen obviously takes her job as Lowe’s very seriously and very personally. Heck, you can’t buy employees with the kind of proprietary dedication like Karen’s.

Thanks to her information the police were able to capture and arrest the shoplifter and he is now in jail. Unfortunately, Lowes didn’t see her bravery in the same light as her co-workers and the following day Karen was fired.

A female, spokesperson for Lowe’s, Kris Ahearn, released a statement saying, “Our policies are in place for the safety of our workers. We have very specific guidelines when it comes to handling potential shoplifters, to ensure the well-being of not only our team but our customers.”

So, I guess their corporate policy is basically – welcome the shoplifters and shame the employees. I wonder if the pilfering rate will skyrocket at Lowe’s, now that the world knows they like shoplifters and hate their employees who try to protect the merchandise.

Unlike Kris Ahearn, and her ilk at corporate Lowe’s, Karen is an honorable and brave individual who will always do what she knows is right. Karen should get a medal for her efforts, not the boot.

Karen Sizemore is considering getting a lawyer, in order to get the job she loves back again. Lowe’s should welcome her with open arms, a parade and balloons!
